KAYE DONACHIE
Kaye Donachie, born in Glasgow in 1970, now lives and works in London. She is a contemporary painter whose figurative, atmospheric paintings are animated by her interest in countercultural history, utopian projects, and female heroines. In her works, Donachie sometimes superimposes landscapes over or within portraits that depict the sermons of cult leaders, forming tableaus that are at once mysterious and deeply evocative. “In the paintings, the character and the description of time and place drift between dream and reality, as the day passes into night,” the artist has said.
